Terms and conditions for renting a vehicle

Vehicles can be rented to persons older than 23 who have held a valid driving licence for at least 2 years.

Prohibited use of the vehicle

The rented vehicle must not be used:

- under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers, narcotics, sleeping medication or other drugs;

- for unlawful purposes (e.g., criminal offences, customs and foreign exchange violations, etc.);

- for paid transport of passengers or goods;

- for any competition, speed tests or races;

- to power or tow other vehicles, trailers or any objects;

- when the vehicle is not in roadworthy/running condition;

- for driver training.

Obligations of the renter (service user)

The renter is required:

- not to overload the rented vehicle with persons or items beyond the permitted weight limit;

- not to cross the border of the Republic of Serbia with the rented vehicle without prior permission from BEL rent a car;

- to bear the costs of consumed fuel;

- to request BEL rent a car’s consent for extending the agreed rental period at least 48 hours before the return deadline;

- to stop driving immediately if the odometer malfunctions during use and to notify BEL rent a car as soon as possible;

- if, upon return, the odometer is found to be damaged, to pay BEL rent a car an amount equal to the cost of 500 kilometres for each day of vehicle use;

- to keep and maintain the vehicle properly during the rental period;

- to return the rented vehicle within the agreed time, or earlier upon BEL rent a car’s request;

- to use the vehicle exclusively for personal needs and not to rent it out or lend it to any third party;

- to pay all fines and penalties imposed in connection with the use of the vehicle, caused by the renter’s personal fault (traffic violations).

Procedure in case of an accident

In the event of a traffic accident, the renter is obliged to protect the interests of BEL rent a car and its insurance company by:

- recording the names and addresses of the participants and witnesses;

- not leaving the damaged vehicle until it has been removed from the accident site and secured;

- reporting any damage, even minor damage, to BEL rent a car immediately and by the fastest available means;

- in the event of major vehicle damage or if there are any injured persons (regardless of obvious fault of other participants), immediately calling and waiting for the traffic police to conduct an official report/inspection;

- submitting a written report on the accident to BEL rent a car.
